Suncoast Spinners are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from coaches and women of all abilities to play in a Women’s Wheelchair Basketball event to be held on the Sunshine Coast in March 2021.
As soon as the date is confirmed, we will provide an update to those who have completed an EOI via email as well as on our Social Media channels.
Players will register as individuals and a selection panel will select teams based on the selection criteria below to create balanced teams which can run combinations within the carnivals modified classification rules.
For those interested who do not have access to a basketball wheelchair please still put in an EOI as Suncoast Spinners have a range of club chairs available to use.
EOI close January 30th 2021. Competition draw and format will be based on the level of interest received.
Once a date is confirmed all players that submitted an EOI will receive a competition registration form to complete confirming their availability with full competition information.
TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection criteria aims to place players into positions for the greatest benefit of the team.
Therefore, the panel will consider the following when allocating players into teams:
- Positional balance of the team (a range of roles to allow for classification and team roles which lead to on-court balance).
- Demonstrated ability to work with the other Players nominated for the team and under the leadership of coaches.
- Skill development
- Demonstrated attitude and commitment toward team cohesion
- Demonstrated attributes of self-discipline, appropriate conduct and sportsmanship
